A man of God, a man who magnetizes millions, the saint of the latter days....such are the phrases that have been used to describe St. Louis Marie de Montfort.

But what manner of man was he?  What were in everyday life his actions and reactions?

In his inimitable style, Fr. Bolger has tried to paint as faithful a picture as he could of Louis Marie the saint.  And by suitably stressing the human side of the saintly man, he makes him one of us, a man to imitate -- The Man called Montfort.

"Every person's life is guided and has a unique design...facts and events are meant to help us know where our true path lies."        from chapter eight

John Paul II is a pope of milestones, a poet, mystic, philosopher and theoretician.  John Paul II: A Life of Grace brings these elements of his personality and many events of his life into focus as part of the mysterious action of God in helping this great man discover and accept his destiny.

On the Way to Jesus Christ is a series of meditations that Pope Benedict XVI wrote while he was Prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.  The true Jesus, he writes, is the Jesus of the Gospels, who "is quite different, demanding, bold.  The Jesus who makes everything OK for everyone is a phantom, a dream, not a real figure.  The Jesus of the Gospels is certainly not convenient for us.  But it is precisely in this way that he answers the deepest question of our existence, which--whether we want to or not--keeps us on the look-out for God, for a gratification that is limitless, for the infinite.  We must again set out on the way to this real Jesus."

On the Way to Jesus Christ is for anyone--believer or unbeliever--who wants better to understand the true Jesus, the Jesus of the Gospels, the Christ of Christianity.

Delving into the Gospels, Hahn shows that family terminology--words like brother, sister, mother, father, and home--dominates Jesus' speech and the writings of His first followers, and that these very words illuminate Christianity's central ideas.  As he explores the fatherhood of God, the marriage of the Church to Christ, and the all-enveloping role of the Holy Spirit, Hahn deepens readers' understanding of the sacraments, teaches them how to create a family life in the image of the Trinity, and demonstrates the ways in which the analogy of the family applies to every aspect of Catholicism and its practices--from the role of "father" embodied by the ancient patriarchs and contemporary parish priests, to the comfort and guidance offered by the brothers and sisters who comprise the Communion of Saints, to the nurturing embrace of Mary, the mother of all Christians.

Genesis to Jesus opens the door to deeper understanding of Scripture for all Catholics, especially those who find reading the Bible a daunting task.  The book leads the reader on an overview of salvation history in order to give the "big picture", the single plot that runs through the books of the Bible.

What is the overarching story?  God's plan to bring all humanity into his covenant family.  This overview of key covenants from creation to the New Covenant established by Jesus not only helps the reader see how various biblical stories fit together in God's plan, it also provides a foundation for ongoing Bible study.
